6 SPORTS EVENTS - 6 ENGLISH LANGUAGE WORKSHOPS
3 WORKSHOPS OUTDOORS:
### 1ST WORKSHOP: "I'M A SPORTS RADIO PRESENTER"
1. The aim of this workshop was to combine both learning a language in an attractive way (outside a classroom - in a local football pitch) and entering the world of sport.
2. First of all, we were working in small groups learning some useful vocabulary and phrases needed for reporting a football match. We did most of the work by ourselves:) with just some guidance from our English teacher.
3. Next, we all became sports radio presenters!!! While working in small groups we were reporting on the football match played by our schoolmates. It was great fun and an interesting educational experience.
4. We all agreed that through this workshop we gained a lot of knowledge on the basis of creative learning ( learning in the groups, cooperating with others, learning from each other). Learning at the workshops works for us!!!

### 1ST WORKSHOP: "I'M A SPORTS RADIO PRESENTER"

### 2nd WORKSHOP: “WE LEARN ACTIVELY THROUGH FUN AND
RELAXATION”
1. The workshop took place in the local eco- farm beautifully situated near the forest and the river.
2. Before the workshop we worked individually and in pairs preparing some information and topics for mini-discussions concerning the world of sport.
3. When we came to the farm we took advantage of the great green space playing some team sports such as football and volleyball. We even had a chance to ride a horse. Some of us just loved it! We also did some active games in the fresh air – running competitions, catch – throw games etc.
4. During the sports games we were speaking English in pairs or small groups . The informal conversations which we didn’t find stressful at all were about our favourite sports disciplines, sports person, teams etc. Some of us brought the sports newspapers in English, photos of our favourite sports people and these materials helped us a lot in our conversations.
5. We believe that learning through this workshop was a great attraction for all of us since we combined some significant aspects: learning English via informal conversation, learning from each other, learning in a creative way - we were immersed into the world of sport with both our minds and bodies.

###3rd WORKSHOP : „ THE P.E. SESSION IN ENGLISH”
1. We found this workshop a great experience because we could learn some English
(the topic – the world of sport) in our P.E. classes!!! Not only did we manage to combine
2 school subjects successfully but we had that workshop held in a local park.
2. First, we worked in groups of 3 students preparing ourselves for managing our P.E. training session. We had to learn the useful vocabulary concerning doing certain sports exercises.
3. Sport time!!! The groups of 2-3 people were leading some parts of the P.E. training session in English. There were both our P.E. teacher and English teacher to help us out if necessary. We did great and had a wonderful time doing sports and learning English at the same time. We reckon that learning English through sport is a fantastic and meaningful experience.

### 1st WORKSHOP: „THE SPORTS PERSON – MY INSPIRATION”
1. The workshop was organised by the students and addressed to the students of our middle school. As a result we enjoyed independence in choosing the topic, the form of the workshop and the way we wanted the event to be managed. That taught us a lot of responsibility, too.
2. The students prepared very interesting Power Point presentations on the sports person – their inspiration. It was really enjoyable to watch them, ask questions, take part in quizes concerning the presentations and discuss the sports matters in small groups (in English,
of course!)
3. The survey conducted after the workshop proved that the thing that was the most important for us was the chance to talk about the authorities in today’s’ world. We need the right authorities to follow and the world of sport has great ones.
### 1st WORKSHOP: „THE SPORTS PERSON – MY INSPIRATION”

(12 - 13 year-olds).
2. Our aim was to teach them some English through the world of sport and some interesting games and competitions.
3. We showed our lovely students 2 Power Point presentations (the 1st one was about
a healthy diet, the 2nd one about sport). The children also watched 2 funny scenes concerning the topic of both a healthy and unhealthy lifestyle. Our students enjoyed doing some sports puzzles (prepared by us) and playing the charades. Besides, we performed some linguistic games in which the students had to activate not only their mind but also their bodies. After the workshop a survey was conducted and we found out that the primary school students enjoyed the workshop very much and they really liked the fact that it was their older schoolmates who prepared the workshop for them - not the teachers!:)

### 3rd WORKSHOP : " THROUGH THE WORLD OF ART TO THE WORLD OF
ENGLISH"
1. This workshop revealed some of our artistic talents while we were working in the small groups on a poster, sculpture or a kind of artistic installation concerning the following
topic / metaphor: THE LANGUAGE OF SPORT.
2. We appreciated the fact of cooperating within the groups. The informal conversations in English were very useful in terms of working out what the metaphor - the language of sport - means to each of us.
3. After the workshop we organised a great exhibition presenting our creative posters, sculptures and artistic installations.
4. This workshop combined successfully 2 worlds: art and sport.
